What is dining room furniture?
Dining room furniture is the table and chairs plus everything that supports them: sideboards, display cabinets, cupboards, benches and mirrors. The table gets the attention, but it is the storage that decides whether the room works or just about copes.
No two dining rooms are the same, and the best furniture reflects how you actually use yours. Start with how many people eat there on a normal weeknight, not how many come at Christmas, then decide whether you need a table that can grow.
Sets, sizes and shapes
For a natural wood look, the Panama Waxed Pine Dining Table Set with 4 Chairs is solid pine with a wax finish on a compact 90cm table. The Ludlow 6 Seater Dining Set gives you a 140cm table and six chairs in a crisp painted white. If you would rather have a table that grows, the Coxmoor Extending Dining Set runs from 80cm to 120cm in solid oak, and the Oxford Extending Dining Table Set with 4 Chairs is a round grey and oak table opening from 105cm to 135cm.
Smaller rooms
A round table is the easy win in a tight or square room: no corners to catch a hip on, and conversation carries across it rather than along it. Where even that will not fit, the Santos Butterfly Folding Space Saving Dining Set opens to 115cm for four and folds to 38.5cm against the wall with its chairs stowed inside. There are more compact and breakfast bar options on our kitchen furniture pages.
Storage and finishes
Oak, waxed pine, white, grey, black and two-tone run through more than 500 products here. The Panama 2 Door 2 Drawer Sideboard pairs with the Panama dining set in the same waxed pine, taking crockery and table linen and giving you a serving surface. Display cabinets, cupboards and bookcases do the same job in different proportions, and a wall mirror lifts a north-facing room.

Dining room furniture FAQs
What size dining table do I need?
Allow about 60cm of table edge per person so nobody is knocking elbows, then leave roughly 90cm between the table and the wall so chairs pull out and people can pass behind. Measure the room first and work inwards.
Round or rectangular?
Round tables suit smaller or square rooms, because there are no corners to walk into and conversation flows across the table rather than along it. Rectangular tables seat more people for the same floor area and suit longer, narrower rooms. Extending round tables do both.
Can I buy dining chairs on their own?
Yes, and it is often the cheaper way to refresh a room. Chairs are sold singly, in pairs and in fours, so you can replace what has worn out, add seats as the household grows, or mix two styles around one table.
Do I have to assemble dining room furniture myself?
Most of this range is flat-pack and each product page says which. Some ranges arrive ready assembled. If you would rather not build a set, our in-home assembly service from our partner Screwdriver can be added there at a flat rate.
How long does delivery take on dining room furniture?
Order before 12pm and thousands of our in-stock products arrive the next working day, which covers most of the sets here. Some ranges run to 7 to 10 working days. The expected date is on every product page, and you choose your delivery date at checkout.
Can I return dining room furniture if it does not fit?
Yes. The majority of our products carry a 30-day returns window. Let us know by email within 14 days of delivery, keep the original packaging, and have the item back within 30 days. Measuring first saves the trouble.
Can I spread the cost?
Flexible finance and buy now pay later options are available at checkout, subject to status. The plans appear on the product page and again at checkout, so a table, chairs and a sideboard can be bought as one room rather than one piece at a time.
