What is farmhouse furniture?
Farmhouse furniture is a style built around warm wood, honest shapes and proportions meant for use rather than for show: waxed and distressed pine, oak tops, panelled doors and metal handles. It has been around for centuries and never quite goes out of fashion, because it is made of materials that do not date.
The practical advantage is that it comes in ranges. Rather than hunting for pieces that nearly match, you can furnish a whole room from one collection and know the finish is the same across the table, the sideboard and the wardrobe.
Start with the table
A wooden table sets the tone for everything else. The Panama Waxed Pine Dining Table Set with 4 Chairs is a compact 90cm set in natural waxed pine, and the Corona Dining Table and 4 Chairs Set is a metre wide with a distressed wax finish that already looks lived in. If you need the table to grow for Sunday lunch, the Coxmoor Extending Dining Set runs from 80cm to 120cm in solid oak.
Storage and the smaller pieces
A sideboard is the piece that makes a farmhouse dining room work rather than just look right. The Panama 2 Door 2 Drawer Sideboard gives you closed storage for crockery and linen with a serving surface on top, in the same waxed pine as the dining set. For the living room, the Panama Nest of Two Tables keeps the wood theme going beside a sofa and pulls apart when people come over.
Farmhouse in the bedroom
The style works upstairs as well as down. The Panama 3 Door Triple Wardrobe is 118cm wide in natural wax pine or white and pine, with a full-width hanging rail and five shelves. Pair it with a chest and bedside from the same range for a room that hangs together, or mix pine with painted pieces if a fully matched bedroom feels like too much.

Farmhouse furniture FAQs
What wood is used in farmhouse furniture?
Pine and oak, mostly. Pine has a warm, open grain that takes a wax finish beautifully. Oak is denser and reads as more refined. Both age well and both run through the ranges here.
Is farmhouse furniture solid wood?
Some of it. Roughly half this range is solid wood and the rest is MDF or engineered board with a wood finish, often within the same collection. Every product page lists the material, so check it rather than assuming from the photograph.
Does it arrive assembled?
Most of this range is flat-pack, solid pine included. That is normal for wooden furniture at this price and part of why it costs what it does. If you would rather not build it, our in-home assembly service from our partner Screwdriver can be added on the product page.
How do I care for waxed pine?
Wipe it with a barely damp cloth and re-wax it once a year or so, more often on a table that gets daily use. Do not leave wet glasses standing on it, and keep it out of long spells of direct sunlight, which dries the wood and lightens the finish unevenly.
Does farmhouse furniture work in a small home?
Yes, though scale matters more than style. Look for compact sets around a metre wide, or an extending table that stays small on weeknights. A single wooden piece often works better in a small room than a matched set, which can feel heavy.
Can farmhouse furniture work in a modern interior?
It usually improves one. Natural wood gives a contemporary room the texture it tends to lack, especially against neutral walls and clean lines. Mixing a wooden table with modern chairs is a reliable way to do it without the room turning into a cottage.
Can I spread the cost?
Flexible finance and buy now pay later options are available at checkout, subject to status. The plans appear on the product page and again at checkout, which helps if you are buying a table and chairs together rather than one piece at a time.
